Day 9: Outsourcing Articles and Site Building

As part of my strategy to quickly build these niche websites, it is essential that I outsource some of the work (as explained in my very first post).  Otherwise, I just would not have time to do everything.

So what exactly am I outsourcing?

As explained in my overall process, I will be outsourcing 3 things:

  • Article writing
  • Site building
  • Article distribution

Article Writing Outsourcing

For article writing, I use textbroker.com, as I have found that the quality of articles tend to be much better than outsourcing anything to a non-us company (typically).  All writers on this site are US based, and must submit an original writing sample before they are approved on the site.

Each writer is then assigned a quality grade from 1 to 5, with 5 being the best quality.   So, you can choose exactly how good you want your articles to be.  The higher the quality of writer, the more you pay.

The other advantage is that there are thousands of writers on the site, so you can submit a huge job and the articles will get written very quickly because they are all written by different authors.

Sitebuilding Outsourcing

I am using WordPress for my sites, so the site setup is fairly simply once the articles are written.  However, even so, it still takes me about half an hour to get 1 site completely setup.  With each site, you have to install plugins, change settings, link structure, contact page, privacy policy page, etc.

So, now I am paying someone that I found on Freelancer.com to do these basic things for me.  Its a HUGE timesaver for me.

The important thing to do when outsourcing is to make sure that you have good communication.  This starts before you even select a winner for your job that was posted.  I always make sure to communicate at least 2 or 3 times with simple questions to the bidders that I find most appealing.  Based on how quickly and effectively they respond, I will usually make my final decision.

You would be surprised how many times these bidders never actually respond!  You will save yourself a ton of time if you can find someone who will simply respond to your emails quickly.

I also communicate with my outsourcer by email nearly everyday.  This keeps us both on track with the project.

Article Marketing Outsourcing

Many of you may or may not have the time to do article marketing on your own.  I am distributing my exact articles that are on my site to ezinearticles.com first and then about 30 other top article directories.

The same individual that is building my sites is also distributing my articles for me.  Again, communication is the key to success in these types of projects.

If you have the time to use article distribution software on your own, by all means go ahead.  I discussed some of the software that I have used in the past for this.

Overall, without having some help, I would never have the time to complete 100 websites in 30 days.  Anyway, I hope I answered some questions on outsourcing here.

Let me know your thoughts!

  1. Hi Spencer,

I just made myself a cup of coffee and will be reading over all the blog posts I missed. Then get ready for the questions! They will be all from different posts though. Talk to you soon!

  2. Spencer,

Good info about outsourcing. Especially how to identify possible candidates for the job based on how fast they respond to your test emails.

How much do you pay that person who does all that? (Building your sites + article distribution to 30 article sites)

I assume it’s an hourly wage right? If so, how do you know how much is enough to do in 1 hr let’s say? For example, do you agree with the outsourcer that it should take him half an hour just to build the site (installing plugins and setting up the pages etc) and then it should take him 8 minutes per article directory submission?

Thanks for the post. Keep on trucking!

    • Del: Right now I pay per project, not per hour. In total I pay about $7 per website to have it built and have the articles distributed. Bidding on a per project basis usually makes a lot of sense.

  3. Which quality score do you choose for your articles at Text Broker?

  4. For you article marketing are you using different pen names for each niche site?

When you submit your articles are you only linking back to the main page or to both pages?

Are you using the same resource box for all the article directories?

    thanx
    Garry

    • Gary: I use just one pen name on ezinearticles.com. I have a few different pen names for the other sites. I am using the same resource box. If you have time to change it up, it would probably be more effective.

  5. Hi,

I wanted to know more about the link building process. So once you distribute your two articles to all those directories, is that it for link building?

Do you just let it sit from that point on?

    Thanks!
